How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is playful and ranges from bohemian to slick and sexy. I love great fabrics like silk, wool and cotton and prefer items that show my figure well.
What’s one piece of fashion advice you could give to a girl preparing to go to her formal?
Wear something that flatters your shape, accentuate the positive and minimize the negative. Flip through magazines or pinterest to find inspiration and make sure you feel comfortable in what you choose so you can have fun. That’s what it is all about. 😉
What initially attracted you to the entertainment/events industry?
I’ve always performed and enjoyed acting and singing in school and when modeling agents scouted me it was a thrill to think this could be an actual job. I love being creative and traveling and have a huge amount of variety. And of course wearing fabulous clothes makes it even more glamorous.
Which female icon inspires you the most?
I really admire Giselle Bundchen for her beauty, discipline and business prowess while remaining a happy and positive person.
Describe your fashion evolution from teenager to now – what inspired you along the way?
When I was a teenager I moved from Tonga to New Zealand and had no fashion sense at all and New Zealand was very into surf brands which I was completely unaware of. I’m glad once I started modeling I was exposed to beautiful clothes which were much more sophisticated than what I knew when I was an early teen. I think seeing, wearing and touching beautiful clothes made me appreciate the art and craftsmanship of fashion and accessories. I now wear some designer items with a mix of cheap basics to have a modern look.
Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
I am inspired by people on the street, other models and stylists.
If you could choose one word to describe the way you express your individuality, what would it be?
Dress-Up: I love costumes and I’m known for throwing many dress up parties. I love going over the top and think it brings out a fun and creative side in people that everyday life doesn’t allow.
Discovering who you are as a young woman can be a tough process; what do you say to young girls out there going through this?
It’s a balance between learning who you want to be from great mentors, and then allowing YOUR best to shine. Keep your head on your shoulders, work hard and have faith.
If there is a defining moment in your life where you feel you did something that screams your individuality as a woman, what was it?
I started my blog www.TeresaTastes.com about food and fashion : Where to Eat and What to Wear. I stepped out of the modeling hush hush about food and pair great restaurants with great outfits. It makes me feel women can have control of their body and have fun.
What music are you totally loving at the moment?
Lana Del Ray, Swing dancing music and heavy drum and base.
What’s your ideal weekend?
Its summer. I wake up with my fiancé, run in the park by the river, have yummy brunch, spend the afternoon lying on the beach relaxing, swimming, talking. Go home and freshen up for dinner with friends, wear something pretty and go out dancing. Sunday: repeat with more relaxing.
When and where are you the happiest?
On vacation somewhere, sunny, beachy and with great food and culture.
Do you have a specific motto you live your life by?
Culture is curiosity applied.
Are there any exciting projects you’re working on at the moment?
www.TeresaTastes.com is writing up great restaurants and fashion in NYC and around the globe and we are getting great guest writers (models to doctors) to also contribute to the beauty and health section to give a girl all the best secrets.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Happily married with 2 gorgeous babies, relaxed, graceful, modeling for cool brands and doing charity work I am passionate about.
Are you reading anything at the moment? If so, what?
I am reading Osho- No Water No Moon. It’s a Zen spirituality book that’s very deep and Osho was my father’s guru. I am also reading a book that is embarrassing to read in public called “How to host your own TV show”, top secret why.
