Neta in the West Village is a top player for modern Sushi in New York. The combination of flavors – all still within a Japanese palate- are really interesting and inventive with top quality ingredients.
Overall, the dishes have perfect execution and combine traditional Japanese ingredients with modern preparation techniques such as torch searing and brushing delicious sauces all over the succulent slices of fish.
I recommend to sit at the bar and watch the sushi chef do his work! When we see the brush dip in some sauce and bless the exquisite cut of fish on top of the warm moist rice.. you know that piece of sushi will be ecstatic.
I think the Omakase here is expensive but one of the best in New York.
The Uni and Scallop appetizer is a stand out with lots of umame flavors and warmth. The Tuna Toro Tartar and Caviar is so outrageously decadent you might feel weak at the knees.
Sushi to make sure you get: Toro, Hotate (Scallop) and anything seared!
If Neta has to be an Outfit: I’d chose this playful structured dress thats upscale but can adapt to downtown cool because its slightly offbeat.
