Marea crowned with Michelin stars, awards and a devout clientele is one of New York City’s Best Seafood restaurants with light modern Italian technique, American ingredients and superb service.
This expensive restaurant on the South West corner of Central Park showcases Chef Michael White’s homage to the Sea (Marea means tide) and has a vast creative crudo menu, oysters, caviar, mentionable pastas and heartier seafood and meat main courses.
The room has elegant glossy wood paneling, windows looking out on Columbus Circle and feels upscale and corporate (not very romantic) so is ideal for a fancy dinner when parents are in town or entertaining clients. It is great for a meal when uptown by the park, midtown or going to Carnegie Hall. Overall the food and service are top notch, refined and minimalist and Marea stays a head ahead of the rest with top ingredients and great textural pairing such as their famous Octopus Fusilli where the ingredients mimic and compliment each other. A very subtle and exquisitely curated menu.
