Uptown’s cool and casual David Chang Resturant (aka momofuku) with amazing Asian fusion food and carts dishing out raw bar, grilled meats, pork buns and dessert from his famous milk bar.
Located in the Chambers Hotel at 15 w. 56th street, it is a great option if you are coming from the Moma, the Theater district, Central Park, or work in midtown.
This is a definitely a memorable meal! All the little dishes do add up quickly so it can get expensive but it is totally worth it. The combination of the downtown vibe with cool art and easy hip hop tunes and an exquisite menu of high end treats served in a playful way really make for a fun night out. I recommend this as a quirky date for foodies or a group of friends.
-Black Bass with Foie Gras Mousse
-Raw Diver Scallop with Salsify
-Broccoli with Miso
-Whole Boneless Porgy FIsh– my dad’s hot sauce, fennel, lime
We decided to show you the goods instagram style:
Soft Rap music plays in the casual but classy minimalist design dining room.
Oysters Thai basil mignonette so yummy like a shot of gin and tonic
Black bass with foie gras mousse and two types of seaweed. Heavy seaweed notes and lots of depth of flavor. Pretty light and fresh for a foie gras dish
Slightly torched Raw Diver Scallop was dense and delicate with salsify to add salt and some coriander for fragrance.
Pork Bun? Anyone?
- Lobster with lemongrass butter. So tender and creamy. Mild butter complements very well. Love it.
- Soft melt in your mouth blinis with trout roe which are like tiny salmon roe. Salty and oily. Aaron thinks they are like anticancer fish oil pills but delicious.
- Up close and personal with the raw bar – shrimp, uni and caviar
Lamb chop had lots of extra fat to Cut off.
Roasted Lamb with a thin and oily Pancake like a chapati. Add fresh cucumber and make a wrap. We needed to add a little salt which took it to the next level.
Porgy fish whole grilled and fried Bess. I mean bread..
and fennel salad with a fresh anise flavour. Very Spicy and herby sauce with an Indian flavor that is crisp and interesting. Most interesting fish dish of the year. Torturous hot and amazing
Broccoli with toasted pumpkin seeds is nutty and creamy with a miso sauce. Yummy
The tempting raw cart with Uni, Caviar and Oysters
Do you want to try….? Tempting Passed Plates
The dessert cart offers the famous Cereal Milk dessert and many many more
Memorable meal. Expensive but worth the journey and experience with waiter and cart service. Lots of fun for a date or a group.
