GLOSS GOSS: Model Teresa Moore works out with olive or argan oil in her hair and says it’s the perfect time to do a conditioning treatment. We’re crushing on her unbelievably glossy mane, and think we’ll have to give this trick a go.
Tongan-born, New Zealand-raised and New York-based model Teresa Moore shares her beauty secrets.
I use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser for the basics. I use Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair before bed and Caudalie Eye Cream, which is yummy and creamy. I also use a Skinceuticals antioxidant serum in the daytime when I wake up.
The most important beauty product apparently is to wear a sunscreen. I use Clarins SPF50, which is light and has a lovely scent.
I like micro-dermabrasions from Christine Chin in New York. I think facials that pick at your skin are usually bad and cause more inflammation and scarring.
Sleep, eating a healthy natural diet with lots of vegetables and a good sweaty workout are my secrets to good skin.
When I was a child I thought makeup was fascinating and fun, and used to do dress up makeovers with my friend Nessa (who became a makeup artist). Then when I started modelling, watching real pros make beautiful dewy skin and elaborate smoky eyes, I was hooked.
I like Bobbi Brown for foundation; she does great shades for girls with olive skin. Stila and Nars make the yummiest cheek and highlight creams. For eyes almost every brand is good but I use Lancome and Dior. A fresh, cheap L’Oreal or Maybelline mascara is better than overspending on a bigger brand.
My handbag usually contains some sample handcream and Stila or Fresh lipgloss with colours ranging from nude to coral to red.
On weekends, if anything, I usually just wear a little concealer, a brown cat-eye line and mascara.
I use Redken Extreme Anti-Snap Treatment which is great when you use hot tools on your hair and also protects my hair when I am at work on a shoot. I like Renpure Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner – it really conditions your hair and is all natural.
I work out with olive or argan oil in my hair, which is a great way to do 45 minutess of conditioning (and it washes right out, don’t worry). I also use Renpure Conditioning Mask, which is amazing even after my hair has been teased and tortured.
I try to avoid hot tools as to not damage my hair, but I have a Chi straightener that’s awesome if needed.
I just got into gel manicures and they flawlessly last for two weeks, which is great. I get a regular pedicure with a good scrub probably every 2-3 weeks.
For work I always wear nude, which is elegant and understated. When I can, I will go for coral, red or turquoise. I haven’t ever done nail art because I’d have to take it off for photoshoots… but it would be fun to try.
I wear Tom Ford Black Orchid, which is rich and sexy. Sometimes if it’s a hot day I wear my mum’s favourite, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea – it’s affordable, fresh and always gets compliments.
Over the years, I have loved Angel and Lolita Lempicka – both have sweet anise notes. I also loved Hermes Jardin Sur Le Nil – it’s really crisp, green and sophisticated… reminds me I should buy that again.
I love ShiKai All Natural Hand & Body Lotion in Gardenia because it’s rich and creamy and smells divine. Since body lotions go over such a large surface area of your body you should really only use natural products.
I work out almost every day, drink green juice to alkalise my system, eat 90 per cent Paleo (lots of veges, fruit, fresh fish and meat) and try to get eight hours of sleep every night. When you look after yourself, you feel relaxed and then you feel beautiful.
When travelling, I recommend packing a ziplock with lip-balm, a face moisturiser and eye gel to put in your eyes since planes are so dry. Drink plenty of water too.
I love going to Sephora, which is like a candy store for makeup. I also get recommended the latest and greatest from makeup artists I work with.
The one product I can’t live without is Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair.
My best best beauty quick fix is a massage and a microdermabrasion. You’ll look younger, fresher and happier.
A beauty mistake form my past was plucking my eyebrows too much. Only do a little at a time.
One beauty product I think needs be invented is a good night’s sleep potion.
