GATO – BOBBY FLAY MEETS A HOT AND SPICY ITALIAN

Gato, Chef Bobby Flay’s new mediterranean restaurant recently opened in NoHo bringing his spicy bold flavors to mediterranean dishes. The layering of ingredients and flavors are stimulating and adept for spice-lovers who want something leaner than Indian or Mexican cuisine.

I met up with Bobby in the kitchen where he diligently keeps the quality control high at this cool mega-restuarant and comes out to meet his patrons which is an added bonus of the experience.

The name GATO was inspired by a mysterious orange cat that walked through Mr. Flay’s feet on Lafayette Street while he was waiting for a real estate broker to show him the space for the first time.

The menu has a selection of fun little bar bites (highly recommended),  and a big range of appetizers and main courses. He also showcases a big vegetable section which seems to be a new trend appearing in new openings. We love that!

MUST TRY:

–  Beef Crudo

– Artichoke with Sea Urchin and Quail Egg

– Orata

Charred Beef with Blue Cheese, Brown Butter, Red wine and Broccoli Rabe Farro was a bit overproduced and underwhelming. Sounded better than it tasted.
