DYLAN PRIME GOOD MEAT, GREAT SERVICE, GROWING COMPETITION

The Steak Scene is getting hot in Tribeca with Wolfgangs and Marc Forgione’s new American Cut, so I wanted to see how the newly renovated Dylan’s Prime is keeping up with the competition.

Dylan Prime is located in a historic landmark building on the corner of Laight St. and Greenwich St. Inspired by its origins as the Dietz Lantern Building, they recently underwent a renovation, reclaiming many original elements of the space to pay tribute to their deep roots in the Tribeca neighborhood with large comfortably spaced tables, booths, glass screens and art deco lighting.

The menu is what you would expect from an expensive, inventive steak restaurants with Charred Romaine Salad, Huge Raw Bar Towers, and hot appetizers such as Octopus, Scallops and Sweetbreads. Then of course there is a myriad of cuts of Steak from Filet Mignon to large Porterhouse, Chateaubriand or Ribeyes for two. Although we didn’t try, the non- steak options are meant to be phenomenal including dishes like Striped Bass, Monkfish and Rabbit.

It is expensive, thoughtful, easily quiet enough for conversation and the staff is thoughtful and pleasant. Lets soon see how it matches up with the others in our next posts…

Must Try:

– Lamb Tartare

– Sauteed Mushrooms

– Filet Mignon Steak

Chickpeas, Chermoula, Dried Olive, Celery

Octopus with Chickpeas, Chermoula, Dried Olive and Celery has strong Moroccan spices and is deliciously warm and oily. The chickpeas have a hint of lemon and somewhat distract in volume from the octopus

Japanese Curry, Black Garlic, Ginger, Pickled Carrot, Cilantro

EXCELLENT Lamb tartare special with fresh cilantro, crispy cracker, pickled carrots. It has an addictive sweet and savory barbecue sauce.

Prime 28 Day Minimum Dry Aged For Two

Prime 28 Day Minimum Dry Aged For Two was salty and tasty. Not super tender but still very good.

Romesco

Oven roasted shallots with Romesco were a bright accompaniment to the Steak

Capers, Egg, Meyer Lemon Citronette

Asparagus with Capers, Egg, Meyer Lemon Citronette – well balanced

Shallots, Marjoram

Mixed Mushrooms with Shallots, Marjoram were umame and warming.
